Frigid temperatures are expected to keep the crowds small as bikers head to Port Dover -- as they do every Friday the 13th.

Provincial police say they will be on the scene in the southern Ontario community on the shore of Lake Erie for the traditional biker gathering.

Anyone travelling through the area should expect to see a higher volume of motorcycle traffic, and be prepared to slow down if the roads are snow-covered.

Friday the 13th gatherings that take place in the summer usually attract tens of thousands of people, but in the winter there's no camping allowed in the town park.

Still, many bars say they're stocked and ready to take in bikers that need a place to stay warm.

Const. Ed Sanchuk of Norfolk OPP says the Festive Ride Program will be out in full force and people are warned not to drink and drive.

"We don't want to see anyone drinking and driving because not only are you going to save your own life, you're going to save those innocent lives that are travelling on the roadways," he said.
