Police in Guelph are looking for a suspect in connection with a suspicious house fire Saturday afternoon that left two people injured -- one of them seriously.
Firefighters were called to the home on Greengate Road yesterday afternoon.
Guelph Police are seeking the public's help in finding a man who fled the scene on foot.
He's described as white, approximately 30 years old, about six-foot-two, with a slim build.
Police say he has a redish coloured beard and was wearing a brown hooded jacket, black pants and black shoes.
He was also seen carrying a red gas can.
A female resident was airlifted to Hamilton for treatment of serious injuries, while a male resident was treated at Guelph General for minor injuries.
Ginnette Sans-Cartier says she's heard from friends of Paula McGladrey, that she's in critical but stable condition.
“We did hear that ourselves that it was deliberately set. That someone did see someone with a jerry can looking for that particular number of house,” said Elaine Piercey.
“I was standing right by the kid when he said that, he said that a guy was walking down the street with a jerry can and he said if you try to stop me I’m going to kill you. That’s what made the kid do one of these things [shutters] and freaked out. Scary stuff,” said Sean O’Reilly.
