18-year-old Miles Hamilton is being remembered by family and friends as a cheerful and loyal person.

The teen died in a horrific accident Friday night after the black pick-up truck he was riding in veered off the road and crashed into a parked truck.

The 17-year-old male driver remains in Hamilton General Hospital with life threatening injuries.

They were travelling northbound on Barnswallow road when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Police say speed was a factor.

Their pick up truck burst into flames, and police had to remove both Hamilton and the driver. Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Everyone loved him. He was cheerful and could always make you smile. He was loyal beyond belief, a family-oriented kid and great to his friends. Miles was deeply loved and cherished and we will miss him greatly," says Hamilton's family in a written statement to CTV Southwestern Ontario.

Hamilton was working as a machinist, and was known for being adventurous. He attended Elmira District Secondary School until last year.

Anyone who may have saw the black pick-up truck prior to the crash is being asked to called police or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
