Desperate to find their missing friend, members of Guelph and Kitchener’s Ethiopian community are rallying in the hopes someone may come forward with new information on the disappearance of Seble Dietrich.

With no new leads, about 150 people walked the streets of downtown Guelph. They carried pictures and posters of the 39-year-old married mother of three, who was last seen nearly a month ago.

“Mimi is a very generous, open, sociable and loveable person. She is easy going and she is very committed in her community,” said Abebe Fanta from Kitchener.

Dietrich, also known as Mimi, is described as a devoted woman of faith who had an online religious program.

She was last seen driving her red Mercedes on July 10th. Her vehicle was later discovered by police outside her downtown cafe.

“We don't know who drove that car, (or) where she (went) with that car . . . we have no idea,” said rally organizer Emmanuel Mollaligne.

While police say it is customary for Dietrich to go to Ethiopia for extended periods of time. But those who know her say prior to leaving on a trip, she would always ask church members for a blessing. This time she did not.

“It’s not in her personality to disappear like this. This is what really concerns us,” said United Ethiopian Community of Guelph chair Kirubel Abebe.

Dietrich's whereabouts are troubling to her friends but also for police who say her disappearance is suspicious.

A representative from the community says their next step is to raise money, so they can hire a private detective.
