A second challenger has officially registered to run for mayor of Waterloo in the Oct. 27 municipal election.
Dave Jaworsky filed his registration papers Monday morning.
A former executive at BlackBerry who led the company’s government relations division, Jaworsky says one of his top priorities will be retaining students and young tech workers.
“We need to make the best of it to get them to stay here,” he said in an interview.
“The economy drives everything.”
In addition to his past at BlackBerry, Jaworsky sits on the board of the Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation.
Jaworsky joins former weather broadcaster Dave MacDonald in vying to replace Mayor Brenda Halloran, who has said she will not run for a third term.
