The intersection of University Avenue and Lexington Road in Waterloo was closed late Monday morning due to a serious two-vehicle crash.
The crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m.
It left an SUV flipped over on University, with one of its rear tires about 200 feet away.
The other vehicle, a minivan, went through a bus shelter, leaving shattered glass behind.
Both drivers – both women from Waterloo – were taken to hospital.
The 55-year-old woman driving the SUV was released from care later in the day, while the 80-year-old van driver remained in hospital with injuries described as serious, but not life-threatening.
The intersection remained closed until around 4:45 p.m.
