CHATHAM, Ont. - Changes are coming to the breakwall at the Leamington, Ont., marina after three people died in a boating accident there in June.

Mayor John Paterson says the Ministry of Transportation has agreed to pay for the installation of new lights and radar reflectors on the breakwall in Lake Erie.

The ministry has also agreed to study whether the breakwall should be removed.

Officials with the ministry, coast guard, federal government and Municipality of Leamington met this morning in Chatham.

Paterson expects the changes to be in place before the next boating season.

Three Leamington residents died after their boat hit the breakwall about 500 metres from the marina, just before 11 p.m. on June 5. Two other people survived.
