All signs point to Costco planning to open a second store in Waterloo Region.
A marketing brochure for a retail development in west Waterloo lists the American retail giant as its anchor tenant.
The brochure shows a Costco store facing Erb Street West, just west of Ira Needles Boulevard and not far from the Waterloo Region Landfill.
The area has seen significant housing development over the past few years.
According to the brochure, the retail development would contain nearly 150,000 square feet of shopping space and almost 1,000 parking spaces while encompassing more than 20 acres of land.
The site would require a zone change in order to be used for retail purposes. City of Waterloo staff say they have yet to receive a formal zone change application.
Costco currently has one location in Waterloo Region, alongside King Street East in the Sportsworld area of Kitchener.
A new store in Guelph is expected to open later this year.
