The body found in a Breslau pond last weekend has been identified as a missing Kitchener man, police say.

The body was found Sunday in a secluded area behind the pit, off Fountain Street.

Following a post-mortem examination in Hamilton, Waterloo Regional Police say the body has been identified as 41-year-old Carlos Benavides, who had been missing since late July.

Police say post-mortem results suggest Benavides died of drowning.

Foul play is not suspected.
