Yet another ATM has been stolen from a business this week in the Region of Waterloo.
This time the ATM was taken from Freshco in Waterloo, at the plaza on University and Bridge.
The theft took place early Friday morning. There was quite a bit of damage to the brick wall and glass near an entrance was smashed out.
It’s following a trend in the area. Four locations, four attempts at stealing ATMs, three successful heists; Waterloo Regional Police are saying they may all be connected.
Alana Holtom, Waterloo Regional Police Spokesperson say: “They’re quite a few similarities between this one and the recent ones we've experienced in the recent weeks so we are considering that there is a possibility they may all be linked.”
Police also believe that the thief or thieves will likely strike again.
They have dedicated a team of investigators to focus on the recent ATM crimes. The Central Crime Management Team is looking examining the evidence, looking for similarities between incidents as well as patterns.
Police are currently reviewing the surveillance footage from the scene.
No description of suspects or any vehicle involved has been released.
