Fire crews responded to a blaze on Trailbrook Lane in Guelph on Tuesday afternoon, in the same area where two other fires have hit in less than a week.
Guelph Fire says a passerby spotted smoke pouring out of the home's open garage and alerted the homeowner, who escaped safely with his pet dog.
Firefighters were able to quickly control the fire and the damage was confined to the garage area.
Police and EMS were also on scene and an investigation is now underway. Police say traffic delays should be expected.
The home is on the same block as two other fires that have caused significant damage.
A fire early Saturday morning caused an estimated $700,000 in damage to four homes on Grange Road.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, also on Grange Road, a camper was destroyed and a home damaged in a fire that police believe was arson.
Guelph police say they are investigating whether the fires are linked and are asking for public help to try to determine what happened.
Residents in the area say they are concerned for their safety.
