The numbers are in.

Waterloo Regional Police say they dealt with 241 holiday-related offences on St. Patrick’s Day in Waterloo.

Factor in 24 offences from Wilfrid Laurier University’s campus police and four tickets issued by city bylaw officers, and that’s a total of 269 offences from one day.

The vast majority of the offences registered fell under the Liquor Licence Act, with 191 charges for possessing an open container of alcohol laid by police, and a further 13 by campus police.

Other information from the police report into the festivities, which was released Monday:

  • Underage drinking was responsible for 23 of the charges laid
  • Two charges were laid for unlawfully selling alcohol
  • Paramedics took eight patients to local hospitals between noon and 8 p.m., all in stable condition
  • Firefighters responded to one case of vandalism and one false alarm
  • Bylaw officers only issued tickets for public bodily emissions, under a bylaw which covers spitting, vomiting, urination and defecation. They issued four of the 11 tickets handed out under that bylaw

An estimated 7,000 people took part in festivities either on Ezra Avenue or at a licensed event on Seagram Drive.
