It took firefighters about three stations to extinguish a fire in the basement of a home near Brunner, south of Milverton, Monday afternoon.

The first firefighters responded to the County Road 119 home around 4:40 p.m.

“When we rolled up, there was no smoke showing,” Perth East Fire Department deputy fire chief Kevin Reis told CTV News.

That changed as firefighters made their way to the back of the house, and before long Reis saw smoke coming up from all sides.

Crews from Shakespeare and Sebringville were also called in as firefighters performed a quick attack.

“It was contained to the basement, and we were able to extinguish it and save the house,” Reis said.

No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation.
