Police and fire officials are investigating a suspicious truck fire at a Kitchener business.

Around 2:30 a.m. Friday, Kitchener firefighters were called to Rideway Transport on Courtland Avenue near Highway 7-8.

“We found two tractor-trailers fully engulfed in flames,” said Kitchener Fire platoon chief Kevin Karly.

“The fire was quickly extinguished.”

Three of the transport company’s trucks and trailers were damaged in the fire, which was discovered by a security guard who heard a strange noise coming from the lot.

Investigators believed the fire began under one truck before spreading to the second and third.

Damage is estimated at $85,000.
