A First Nation reserve near Hamilton has declared an emergency after a fire at a landfill led to explosions and the burning of household chemicals.
Chief Ava Hill of Six Nations says the fire was quickly contained after it started Wednesday afternoon, but she fears the area could be contaminated.
Hill says the emergency declaration allows the provincial and federal governments to help the reserve deal with the situation.
She says the cause of the fire is under investigation, but no one was hurt.
