Damage is expected to top $500,000 following a barn fire near Millbank.

About 30 firefighters from three fire stations were called to a farm on Line 80 near Perth Road 121 shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

They were unable to stop fire from destroying an old barn structure and damaging three silos, but they did stop the flames from spreading to a second, newer barn – saving the more than 100 cattle inside.

The destroyed barn contained various pieces of farm equipment.

One person was taken to hospital with burn injuries and later released, Perth East Fire Department chief William Hunter told CTV News.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
