Daniel Ransem, the British man charged for making the online threat against Wilfrid Laurier University was released on bail Monday.

Ransem said a SWAT team stormed his north London apartment Friday night. He told CTV News he’s “a bit shaken” after spending about 65 hours in prison.

“When you post on 4chan you don’t expect it to be taken seriously,”Ransem said.

“I was just copying what other people were doing at the time. I was just trying to fit in and there was no mal intent what so ever behind what I posted,” he continued.

Ransem said he chose Laurier’s name from another post on 4chan.

“The truth is I didn’t know I was doing anything wrong when I posted the comment. I thought I was protected by freedom of speech, but obviously that is not the case,” he said.

“From the bottom of my heart I am very, very sorry. I did not mean for the university to be shut down. You know, I’m not a bad man. 10 minutes with me and you’ll realize that I’m as dangerous as a door mouse,” said Ransem.

Ransem is due back in court on January 6, 2016.
