A morning fire in Kitchener’s south end has caused extensive damage to an industrial business.

Firefighters were called to B and W Heat Treating on Steckle Place at approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Officials say it took them about an hour to put out the flames, and that the fire started in an oil vat.

Damages could exceed $500,000.

Fire officials say it is believed a low oil level is why the machine ignited.
