A sprinkler system is being credited with saving the day after flames broke out at a Cambridge business.

Fire crews were called to SGF Marketplace, an electronics retailer housed in a former roller rink, on Langs Drive at Hespeler Road around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Cambridge Fire officials tell CTV News the first is believed to have been sparked by a faulty extension cord.

The building's sprinkler system was able to suppress most of the flames, but thick smoke was seen billowing from the building.

No injuries were reported and no charges are expected.
