Two traffic stops helped tip Brantford Police off to what they say was a drug production facility inside a south-end home.
Around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, police stopped a vehicle on Market Street South.
Inside, they allegedly found three bags containing a total of 175 grams of marijuana, which was seized.
The two people inside the vehicle were placed under arrest.
Next, shortly before 8 p.m., police – following up on the earlier incident – stopped a vehicle in the area of Clarence and Dundas streets.
The two people inside that vehicle were also arrested, while police say they seized four grams of honey hash, five grams of marijuana and $915 in cash.
Following the traffic stops, police received authorization to search a home on Canning Street – near Colborne Street and the Veterans Memorial Parkway.
Inside the home, officers allegedly found nearly 6.5 kilograms of marijuana, more than 12 grams of honey hash and more than 600 grams of liquid hash, as well as magic mushrooms, cocaine, crystal meth and Percocet tablets.
Evidence that people inside the residence were producing honey hash were also found inside, police say, along with digital scales and packaging materials.
Seven weapons were also seized, including two shotguns, four rifles and one handgun, as was ammunition.
Five people – four of them from Brantford and one from Hamilton – face a variety of charges.
The bulk of the charges were laid against a 29-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both from Brantford.
