Two people were injured, one seriously, during an altercation at a Waterloo home.

Police were called to a residence on Drummerhill Crescent, near Fischer-Hallman Road and Thorndale Drive, around 4:15 a.m. Sunday for a report of a disturbance.

“Officers responded (and) restrained a male who had assaulted two other persons in the house,” Waterloo Regional Police Insp. Daryl Goetz told CTV News.

A 44-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries to his torso believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

A 54-year-old woman was also hurt, also her injuries were not as severe, police said.

Both were released from hospital later in the day.

Facing charges of attempted murder, uttering threats, assault, mischief, possession of a weapon and breaching probation is a 36-year-old man.

The man and both injured people all knew each other before the incident, police said.
