Region of Waterloo Public Health says 931 elementary school students have been suspended for not updating their immunization records.

A warning letter was sent out last fall asking parents to update their child’s record by April 6th.

10,000 letters were initially mailed out. As of March 31st, 2,074 records were still incomplete.

Children can be suspended for up to 20 days.

Once parents provide proof of immunization or a valid exemption to Public Health, they will be given a letter that will allow their child to return to class.

If the documents are still not submitted, and the suspension period has passed, the child will be allowed back in school even if Public Health still doesn’t have up-to-date documentation.
