An agreement has been reached between the Waterloo Region District School Board and the union representing its high schools teachers, board officials said Thursday.

The deal must still be ratified by the WRDSB board and by members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation District 24.

The agreement was bargained under Ontario’s new two-tier negotiation system, in which issues of local importance are negotiated at the school board level while other matters are resolved with provincial officials.

The provincial side of the deal was reached and ratified last month.

Talks continue between the WRDSB and the local chapter of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.
