A 69-year-old woman was airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries Tuesday afternoon following a crash in Listowel.

The crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. at Inkerman Street and Wallace Avenue.

Perth County OPP say the woman, a Howick Township resident, was crossing at a crosswalk when she was hit by a southbound pickup truck.

Bruce Kemptson saw the crash from his nearby office, and ran outside to help the woman as she lay on the ground.

“I just tried to comfort her as best I could, talk to her and ask her to talk to me,” he said.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

A small section of Inkerman was closed for several hours.

Police say they want to hear from any witnesses to the crash.
