It stood for more than half a century, but it couldn’t withstand Tuesday’s wind.
A large ash tree came tumbling to the ground on Lorne Avenue in central Kitchener on Tuesday.
The tree fell into the house, although it didn’t appear to have caused significant damage.
“It made a soft landing when it hit the roof,” said Barbara Meyer, who has lived in the house since 1960.
The tree had been earmarked for removal as part of Kitchener’s battle against the Emerald ash borer.
No injuries were reported.
