Teen threatens victim with knife at Kitchener mall, gets arrested: WRPS

Police have charged a 17-year-old Kitchener youth after they responded to a weapons incident at a Kitchener mall over the weekend.

Police said they first received reports of a disturbance involving a male youth threatening a victim with a knife around 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Fairview Park Mall.

Police said when they found the teen in the mall, he was uncooperative and began assaulting officers. They used a conducted energy weapon (CEW) to arrest him. Officers found a knife during the arrest.

The 17-year-old is charged with:

  • Assault
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  •  Assault with intent to resist

He is being held in police custody for a bail hearing.

There were no injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police.
