Guelph Police closed down a section of Speedvale Avenue and brought in a tactical team to a northeast apartment building – only to eventually determine that nothing was out of the ordinary.

Around 11:30 a.m., police were called to an apartment building on Manhattan Court – near the intersection of Stevenson Street and Speedvale.

Somebody had reported hearing a gunshot in the area.

Police quickly moved to close down Speedvale in the area. A tactical unit and command post were among the resources deployed, with the tactical team surrounding the building.

By 2 p.m., officers were seen escorting people out of a nearby office building.

About half an hour later, police began leaving the area and reopened Speedvale.

According to a spokesperson for the police department, nobody else reported hearing the noise and everybody in the building was accounted for.
