Public health authorities want to hear from anyone who may have come into contact with a rabid cat during an 11-day span earlier this month.
The cat is described as being a grey-coloured adult male.
Between Aug. 10 and Aug. 20, the Hamilton Public Health Unit says, it may have been in sections of Brant County east or southeast of Brantford, and or parts of Hamilton in the Alberton area.
Anyone who lost, abandoned, fed or saw a cat matching that description in that area during that timeframe is asked to contact their local health unit (519-753-4937 ext. 470 in Brant County; 905-546-2489 in Hamilton).
The health unit’s announcement comes days after the revelation that a man in Caledonia was bitten by a rabid stray cat.
That bite was linked to an outbreak of raccoon-strain rabies that has been ongoing since last December in areas around Hamilton, including Brant County.
