The family of a missing 28-year-old Cambridge man is appealing for the public's assistance to help find him.

Sitthideth Insixiengmay of Cambridge, was last seen around 5:15 a.m. on Saturday in the area of Wellington and Bond Streets in Cambridge.

He generally goes by the name Sid or Lu and police say he was on foot when he was last seen.

Insixiengmay apparently told family members he was going out to buy some cigarettes, but never returned.

His close-knit family says they are extremely worried about his safety, and hope he will call or come home soon.

His brother Nick Insixiengmay says it has been a very tough time for the family and they are asking for help from the community.

"He left everything at the house. So his keys are here, his wallet is here, the only thing that he had was one of his bank cards," he adds.

And police say that bank card hasn't been used.

Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel says "We're making every attempt right now to alert the community to his missing status and we're hoping to get some tips."

Meanwhile the family has put up missing person posters in the neighbourhood, they have set up a Facebook page and are contacting his friends, hoping he is somewhere safe and unharmed.

Nick says "If anyone knows where he's at or has contact with him, just contact the police or call the number on the flyer so we have a word for where he's at."

His father Frank Insixiengmay says "Everyone in our family is missing him a lot and…want him to come home."

Sitthideth is described as male, Asian, 5'6", 130 lbs with short, spiked black hair. He was last seen wearing a down-filled Tommy Hilfiger brand jacket, which has three horizontal stripes that are red, green and gold in colour.

Anyone who may have information about his whereabouts is asked to call police at 519-653-7700 Ext. 2298.
