Premier Kathleen Wynne stopped in Cambridge on Tuesday to announce $3 million in provincial funding for that city’s Frito-Lay manufacturing plant.
“We can’t underestimate the importance of this industry and this plant for the farmers and the small businesses in Ontario,” she said.
The money will go toward modernizing the plant and preparing for the installation of a new packaging system.
Owned by PepsiCo Foods Canada, the Frito-Lay plant employs more than 550 people.
The $3 million announced by the province is part of a total $12 million to be spent on the plant.
