Police urging drivers to stay off the roads in Perth County
The Ontario Provincial Police are asking drivers to think twice before hitting the roads.
In a social media post put out at 12:33 p.m. Saturday, Perth OPP said they were dealing with hazardous road conditions and zero visibility in some parts of the area.
“The OPP are urging everyone to stay home. If you do have to travel, please ensure that your full headlight package is on, your vehicle has been brushed off and you continually check that your lights are free from snow and that you slow your speed and maintain a safe travelling distance between yourself and the car in front of you,” the post reads.
A snow squall warning is in effect for Southern and Northern Perth County and other nearby communities.
According to Environment Canada, 15 to 30 centimeters of snow could fall on impacted areas as the squalls continue into Sunday. Conditions are expected to improve through Sunday but until then wind gusts could reach 60 km/h.
Meanwhile, a winter weather travel advisory is in effect for the Region of Waterloo as 5 to 15 centimeters of snow is expected there.
