Police have released the names of the two siblings who drowned in the waters off Port Burwell beach on Friday.

David Harder, 7, and his 10-year-old sister Lisa were pulled from the water without vital signs around 4 p.m. The siblings, from the small community of Glen Meyer, were flown to London’s Victoria Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Elgin County OPP say the children were swimming with eight other members of their family, ranging in age from 7 to 19. Three of them, David, Lisa and another 9-year-old sibling ran into trouble. The oldest Harder sibling was able to rescue the 9-year-old, but lost sight of David and Lisa.

The children were non-swimmers and weren’t wearing life jackets.

An investigation into the deaths is ongoing.
