With 39 shopping days to go until Christmas, it’s clear sailing on King Street in uptown Waterloo.
King reopened to traffic between Union and Allen streets Monday, after being closed for several months for LRT-related construction.
GrandLinq had promised to end construction in the area in time for the holiday shopping season, following concerns from uptown businesses that the work would keep customers away.
Businesses now say they’re worried about what will happen in January, when access is blocked off once again.
Construction continues on King between Victoria and Union streets in Kitchener, with the street fully closed between Victoria and Moore Avenue, and open to local traffic only the rest of the way.
Lane reductions are also in effect on King in Waterloo, between Weber Street and Conestogo Road – and extending at times to Northfield Drive.
