One person is dead following a house fire in a central Brantford neighbourhood.
Brantford Fire officials tell CTV News they were called to the scene of the fire, on Park Avenue near Marlborough Street, around 2:30 p.m. Friday.
The fire was first spotted by somebody walking by the home, who heard fire alarms and saw smoke coming from the building.
Firefighters forced their way into the building and were able to suppress the fire.
As they were fighting the flames, they found a body inside the building.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
The Office of the Fire Marshal was expected to arrive at the scene Friday night.
