A new elementary school in Kitchener’s south end that was slated to open next year won’t be ready for students until 2017.

The school, which was approved in 2013 and has not been named, is located at Groh and Thomas Slee drives.

According to the Waterloo Region District School Board, the developer of the site has run into a number of delays, including in constructing a required stormwater management pond.

Those delays, the school board says, have held up the issuing of a building permit for the school.

When complete, the school will hold 600 students ranging in grade from junior kindergarten to Grade 8.
