Two teenage sisters from New Hamburg who had been missing from a campground near Peterborough since Thursday morning were found around 6 p.m. Friday, Ontario Provincial Police say.

Emma and Jenna Kip, aged 13 and 16, were last seen leaving their campsite, in the Hardwood Hills campground at Bon Echo Provincial Park, around 10 a.m. Thursday.

After four hours passed without the girls returning, the family members they were camping with called police.

Police say the girls were found in good condition and were being examined by paramedics.

“I’m so ecstatic and relieved and thankful, it’s hard to put into words,” father John Kip tells CTV News.

“It’s too much of an elation.”

Approximately 35 officers were involved in the search, which included helicopter, marine and canine units.
