Mayors from across Canada say Ottawa must take a leadership role if jurisdictions are not moving fast enough to deal with the opioid crisis.
They say the federal government must ensure provinces provide timely access to addiction treatment and by launching public education campaigns.
Toronto Mayor John Tory says some new initiatives are being undertaken in Ontario, but says they don't fully reflect the crisis big cities are facing.
Tory says there are hundreds and hundreds of people dying of opioid overdoses and hundreds more in distress.
