A police call to St. Leger Street in Kitchener Sunday evening led to two arrests.

Just before 9:00 p.m., Waterloo Regional police responded to a report of a man waving a machete on St. Leger Street in Kitchener.

When officers got to the scene, the man was gone.  Police found the knife, but during the investigation a woman jumped onto the hood of a cruiser, then ran off. As she fled, police say she damaged two vehicles parked along St. Leger and assaulted one of the vehicle owners.

A 40-year-old woman is facing several charges.

The investigation into the initial call about the machete led police to ascertain the identity of the man.  Several hours later he was taken into custody.
