Members of the London Professional Fire Fighters Association are packing up and heading to Alberta to help those affected by the wildfires in Fort McMurray.

Five fire fighters will be assisting “Global Fire” a national charity in Alberta.

They’re also using their own vacation time to go there to help out.

“The nature of our job is we got into this to help people and obviously it is a devastating event. We wanted to help right away and we were waiting for a request to come and thankfully it did and now we have five members going,” says Jason Timlick, President of the London Professional Fire Fighters Association.

The team flew out of the London airport early Sunday morning and will be heading to Edmonton to help at relief shelters. The fire fighters personally fundraised for the week long trip.
