Next time you go to renew the licence plates on your car, you’ll be paying a little bit more.
As of Sept. 1, the renewal fee for passenger and light commercial vehicles in southern Ontario is increasing from $108 to $120.
The fee has risen by 62 per cent since 2011, when it was increased from $74.
A spokesperson for Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation says driver and vehicle licence fees are regularly subject to gradual increases to keep pace with the increasing costs of maintaining the province’s highways.
