June Hofland will indeed remain as one of Guelph’s two Ward 3 councillors.
A recount held Tuesday confirmed that Hofland received 2,050 votes in the Oct. 27 election – five more than challenger Craig Chamberlain.
Hofland will share the north-central ward with Phil Allt, who took home 2,299 votes.
All three totals are the same as was believed before the recount.
“It’s not surprising the results are the same," city clerk Stephen O'Brien said in a press release.
"Tabulators and technology used in today’s elections eliminate most of the potential for human error and offer a high level of accuracy.”
Both Hofland and Chamberlain had called for the recount, which was unanimously approved by councillors Monday night.
