Later this month, city councillors in Guelph will decide whether to hold a recount in Ward 3.
The city’s clerk recommended the recount Monday, after only two votes decided one of the races in the ward.
Guelph elects two councillors in each ward.
In Ward 3, Phil Allt was easily elected with 2,299 votes.
Incumbent June Hofland finished second with 2,050, and Craig Chamberlain third with 2,045.

Unofficial results available election night pegged the gap between Hofland and Chamberlain at just two votes.
Councillors will vote on the request for a recount Nov. 17.
If approved, the recount will take place the next day.
