The Guelph Police Service is investigating after a store manager was pushed and spat on by a shoplifter Sunday afternoon.

Just before 2 p.m., police say they were called to a disturbance outside of a business in the area of Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street. Police say that the store manager saw a woman, who was already banned from the business, concealing merchandise.

"As he was attempting to escort her from the store, a male accomplice approached and shoved the manager," police said in a media release. "Both suspects then spat in the victim’s face before fleeing."

The manager was not hurt.

The suspects are described as a bald white man who was wearing shorts and a t-shirt and a white woman who was wearing a light blue jacket at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Mallory Woeller at 519-824-1212, ext. 7462 or email mwoeller@guelphpolice.ca.
