Police are reminding parents to talk to their children about dealing with strangers after an incident in Brantford.

According to police, a 14-year-old girl was walking near D’Aubigny Road in Brantford’s west end around 4:30 p.m. Friday when she was approached by a white passenger van with tinted windows.

The girl did not recognize the van or its two male occupants.

The people in the van then attempted to have a conversation with the girl, who did not respond and continued walking.

The van continued to follow the girl, with one of its occupants asking for directions to Walmart.

The girl did not engage the men in conversation and ran away from the area.

Police describe the driver as a black man of about 35 years, with short dark hair and sideburns. He was wearing sunglasses and a white T-shirt.

The passenger is described as a thin white man with blonde, neck-length hair and a black muscle shirt.
