A fire Friday night in Stratford destroyed a Huron Street business called Vancea Financial Group and the apartment above it.

No one was hurt but the people who were living in that apartment are now homeless.

Flames were shooting out of the back of the building at 216 Huron Street when firefighters arrived about 9:20 p.m.

Crews were still on scene extinguishing hot spots and recovering items from the office until four o-clock Saturday.

The cause is still under investigation but fire officials say it is not suspicious. Damage is estimated at $400,000.
