Fifth man arrested after gun pulled out in Guelph

Another person has been arrested as part of a weapons investigation that began in August.

Guelph Police were called to the downtown core after they were told a handgun was pulled out during an altercation on Aug. 10.

Officers found and arrested two men from Brampton walking in the area. A loaded Glock firearm and more than $6,000 worth of suspected fentanyl was found during a search.

A few days later, police executed warrants in Guelph and Brampton, leading to the arrest of two Guelph men. They both faced drug charges.

On Wednesday, a 22-year-old Brampton man was arrested after he was released from Maplehurt Correctional Complex. He had been in jail on unrelated charges.

He has been charged with possessing fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.
