The province is putting $1.5 million toward a $36-million expansion at a Brantford food manufacturing facility.

Ferrero Canada says the expansion will help it create 55 new jobs by allowing them to manufacture three new products at their plant on Ferrero Boulevard.

The province’s funding was announced Thursday.

“Ferrero Canada in Brantford is a proven winner for all partners and means continued prosperity and jobs,” Brant MPP Dave Levac said in a press release.

Ferrero Canada, which already employs about 830 people in Brantford, makes chocolate and candy products such as Ferrero Rocher, Kinder Surprise and Tic Tacs.

The expansion is expected to be complete by August 2017.
