Monday marked the second straight day of police activity in a Kitchener neighbourhood in connection with the case of a missing woman.
A police command post was set up Sunday on Burn Place, near Belmont Avenue and Highland Road.
Police say it’s due to new information related to the disappearance of 51-year-old Kate Lynn Reid, who lives in an apartment building on the street.
She was last seen in early January, and was reported missing at the end of that month.
According to Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel, Reid’s disappearance was initially not thought to be suspicious.
“We thought perhaps she may have left the area to visit one of her relatives,” he told CTV News.
“Something may have occurred to her (since) that wasn’t anticipated several weeks ago.”
A friend of Reid’s, Karen Dobson, said she has been worried about Reid since her disappearance.
“She would never just leave … especially (with) not saying goodbye,” she said.
Police describe Reid as 5’6” and 110 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
