Guelph-Eramosa Township have closed the lake in Marden Park, just north of Guelph, while they try to figure out what has been causing dead fish to wash ashore.

The township has erected a snow fence around the lake and put up signs warning of a "public health concern." They are also warning people not to use the lake for swimming or drinking and not to eat the fish.

Samples of the dead fish have been sent to the University of Guelph for analysis.  Results are expected back by the end of the week.
