A 13-year-old boy had to be airlifted to hospital after a rollover crash on Highway 401 near the Drumbo exit.

The collision happened early Friday afternoon near the County Road 3 exit.

An air ambulance had to be called to the scene to help with the victims. It reportedly landed near County Road 29.

A 13-year-old male was transported to London's Victoria Hospital. Reports from the scene indicate he was thrown from the vehicle.

The status of the two other people in the car is not yet known.

The crash caused a massive traffic jam on the westbound Highway 401 for much of the day. Traffic was reportedly backed-up as far as the overpass at Cedar Creek Road near Ayr.

The on- and off-ramps to the westbound Highway at Cedar Creek Road were closed until about 4:30 p.m.
